Default 2002 S80 - No Message Display

Newly acquired 2002 S80. I have nothing displaying in the "text window". I cannot control the display/messages with the controls on the turn signal lever.

Has anyone had this problem or know of a solution?

The instrument panel logs errors that can be read through the OBD port.

Most likely the light bulb is burnt out. It's an easy fix. Just remove the instrument cluster and change the bulb in the back. Try that first. I currently have no odometer and I know that's what it is. Also my text window dims sometimes it also needs a light bulb change. The worst is when your check engine light is burnt out and you don't know it, especially when you find out after you've bought the car. Argghh!

If no errors are logged then it's probably a bulb.... or you could tear the panel apart to check a filament.
