I'm about to remove my ABS and have found a couple instructions online. However, in one set of instructions from Victor Rocha it says to remove two fuses:

But the one from BBA-Reman doesnt say anything about the fuses:

How important is it that these fuses are removed and is it necessary? Any other tips on getting the ABS out would be helpful.

You don't need to remove the fuses.

 

Do not skimp and try to do this without the correct inverted torx driver... very, very, simple task to swap out the ABS module if you don't strip the E5's...

1/4" ratchet... you will think that you're home free until the 4th bolt you'll know it. Sneak/through/around the brake hardlines...

If you're sending off to be rebuilt and drive the car, cover the remaining components in a couple of plastic bags andsecure in place to keep any grime/moisture off the valves.

 

Thanks! Yeah I went ahead and ordered an E5 torx to make sure I dont strip them. I plan on sending it to BBA-reman...I've heard pretty good things about them.

 

I used BBA and was completely pleased with the time, cost, instructions. . .

Oh ok I think there was one location in West Palm. But I think they closed it.
There was a place in West palm that would do it and give a 5 year warranty for like $90.00

 

I'm finally getting around to taking the abs out. Do I need to remove the fuse box in order to take the connector off? I get the black cover on the connector to release but it doesnt flip all the way over because the fuse box is in the way. Maybe I'm missing something here?

 

Yes you do need to move the fuse box to get it loose.

Remove the air box there is one screw under the air box.
Then you need to remove the 2 power wires in the fuse box there is another screw down in the hole.

Haha...yeah that was a horrible explanation. When you take the abs off there are metal parts sticking out of the brake pump that go into the abs (I think theyre the solenoids).

 

The valves... put a plastic bag over everything to keep it dirt-free... that's what I did anyway.
