I took my battery out today and had it tested as it had died two times on me the last week. It turned out it was good and my faulty alarm is causing the battery 2 drain (see other post). I noticed it was a stock volvo battery. I have every single reciept from the last owner as well as the volvo dealers print out of everything that was ever done to the car at any volvo dealer and no where do I see the battery ever being replaced. I cleaned up some of the acid and replaced itafter I took it out. Is it really possible for the battery to have lasted over 7 years?? My S80 is a 1999. Also anyone recomend any certain type of battery (besides optima im not spending a fortune lol) as I figure it will go in the very near future if its this old.

 

DieHard batteries are very good....my father has used them in his Volvos for years.

 

i think the stock volvo batteries are pretty good, considering I have aftermarket stereo attached to it .

 

If you want to spend a little money buy an Interstate.
They now come with a 5 year warranty.

 

Mine came w/ an interstate battery, hard to know how old it was since they didn't punch out the month and year on top. mine is a 2000 and they don't come stock with them so it wasn't too old, probably got a bad one. I got a diehard interstate put in, it ran me about 115 and another 12 for them to check my alternator, and eletrical system and installation.
