Default Breather Box Reseal-- Oil leak

I got a "breather box reseal (oil leak)" from the dealer. Again, something I can do myself? Like change O-rings?

You have to remove the intake manifold to replace it.

That sounds like a major job. I'll wait for the volvo vadis then measure my ability and time.
Thanks again, it's good to know, you got my back. [sm=massbounce.gif]

The 2.9 isn't all that bad.
The T-6 is a ton worse.

That's good to know. I will definitely seek your advice when I get to it. I have to deal with my suspension and inner rod first.

I tried to look up "breather box" with vadis I just got, but I couldn't find it. Area of the engine should I look in VADIS for this "breather box"?

I'm ready to deal with this breather box leakage. I search the internet and found many threads on the subject but mostly on different model car not the S80.

1) What parts should I order from the dealer or else where to start? Is it the whole box or o-rings that I must replace? Please advise on any additional parts since I have things apart.

2) Tech: I see that you have advised removing the intake manifold to get to it. But I can do it with just removing the throttle body? Looks like I might have enough room since I have regular non-turbo engine.

you will have to trim a half inch of the accessory bracket to get the second bolt out. I really recommend remmoving the intake manifold. Removing the breather box was hard enough with it out, I can't imagine doing it with it on. Actually the tech had me break the old breather box from the engine with a breaker bar, then I trimmed the accessory bracket to put in the new one. I went ahead and replaced the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets while I was at it along with the oil dipstick o ring and the oil cap.

Talkin about shade tree, On the 2.9 you dont have to remove the intake, i never do, the t6 theres no way around it, volvo has a special tool for the bolt on the oiltrap behind the accessory bracket, you could prolly find on Ebay. Dont go grinding on the bracket. thats rediculous.

1. disconnect battery
2. remove the cooling fan
3. remove the 4 10mm bolts from the ETM leave the pipe attached, remove the ETM and pipe all in one piece
4. break the oetiker clamps off the oil trap hoses
5.remove the 10mm bolts holding the oil trap on.
6.remove the bottom 25torx for the seal

The intake removal is all by preference.
Not everyone can get the special tool. Most people can't even be bothered.
There is nothing wrong with notching the bracket to get to the screw.
The mounting bracket in not affected in any way by notching it.

If that was the case they would not have redesigned the bracket shorter to allow you easy access to the screws on the newer cars.

I think I can get to it without removing the intake. Do you have the special tool # as suggested or ebay key words to search for it?

What parts all together should I order from the dealer as I take on replacing the Breather Box? Example, like the box itself, o-rings ... etc.

The Vent box
Both seals well one round seal and one hose with a metal sleeve on it.
Make sure you get all clamps!!!

Tech, what is this special tool he's talking about? Any a specific name, number, etc.. I can google for it?

Or, what kind of tool to cut a notch of the bracket in such a small work area?
