Default Charging failure warning among others

2008 S80 V8 AWD. Tried to drive from Spokane to Seattle today. Temperature around 110 degrees F. After about 50 miles the warning lights started blowing up my dash starting with Charging Failure - Service Urgent and the battery symbol lighting up and adding, among others, BLIS failure, bulb failures, Active Chassis temporarily turned off and finally Engine Temp High - Stop Now. Pulled off at the next exit, only a mile or so and had it towed back to Spokane (thanks AAA!). Let it sit until the temperature went down to a chilly 87 degrees F and ran it for less than 5 minutes to pull it into the garage. The only warning that popped at that time was for the charging system. Recently serviced including a new battery. Was all of this likely caused by the extreme heat? What should I check to sort out the charging failure? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Mark

UPDATE: Alternator was overcharging the system. Fried the battery, hopefully nothing else.

You probably have a failing alternator - it's a difficult job to replace on a V8
