Default Check engine light - code P2407

Our 2004 S80 had its check engine light come on.

The code that is produced is
P2407
EVAP system leak
Detect pump sens CKT
Intermittant

Any suggestions what I should look at to find the cause?

Thanks

Has the gas cap been left loose lately?

No, and we've put gas in it a few times since this has started.

I get that code on my XC70. I was told by the dealer its the evap canister solenoid or the hose that goes to it. Most likely the hose. It gets hard and brittle and cracks. Its a pain to get to on the XC70. About $160 to fix the hose and $400 is its the solenoid. This is a vent system from the gas tank. It routes vapor to the canister. Its all under the car.

I tried changing the gas cap but it did not work. Their is a rubber gasket that breaks on that too. So you can try the cap first.

OK thanks. I put a new cap on it yesterday. The light is still on today, not sure how long it would take for the light to go out if that was the issue.

The light has gone out after a few days. Seems like the cap may have been it.
