Hi im new to this forum and its my first time,i have a 2000 volvo s80 2.9 non turbo,i cahnge my stereo with an after market and after a week my srs came on and i went to a dealership and they said its bec of my new head unit and maybe they disconnect something thats why it came on,anyway they reset the srs and they said thers nothing wrong with my srs.then after a month or so srs came back on again,after that check engine light came on and i have a message saying about emission,and last night i pulled the code(42,26)what is this code and do you guys have any idea how to fix this,thanks and im sorry if im on the wrong thread

Did you have the software installed to remove the factory radio as a control module?

 

no sir,bestbuy did the installation,as far as i know they just remove my factory radio and replace with the after market radio

Like tech said you need to take your car back to the dealership and have them reload your software so that the factory head unit is "removed" within the configuration. Until you do that, the computer will think there is something wrong. Your mechanic should've known this already, so I'm puzzled as to why they didn't suggest doing this for you?!?!?!?

That should for now. But with the $$ you already spent on the aftermarket radio spend another $30.00 for the software plus .5 labor and you are done.

Tell them the truth you installed an aftermarket radio and you need to software downloaded to remove the factory radio.

Not sure about the code it might be a generic code. I know the Volvo codes.

It would be a code like SRS-0021 or something like that.
There is a SRS-0042 listed but it is for R/F side air bag.
