Default Engine Cooling Fan Staying on

OK so I got this 99 S80 2.9 and im having this problem that the cooling fan stays on at a full speed, it didnt do that before. i have to disconnect it because it drains the battery. I know it should work when your in a stop or turn on the A/C. Even with the car cool you connect the cooling fan and stays on at full speed. I know eventually this will damage the fan. What do you think the problem is?

Most likely the module on the cooling fan is bad. Sadly you need to replace the entire fan assembly to fix it.

Epic win!

I "McGrubered" a stuck washer motor the same way on our V70 last weekend. Threw it on the ground, unstuck it, epoxied it and its good as new. Well maybe not new but meh.
