fog light switch volvo s80
hi guys, since i'm not using the rear fog light anyway, can i just switch the rear fog button to front fog light slot? instead of buying the control switch? will the front lights work? or do i really need to buy the control switch ? help me pls
Did you add aftermarket fog lights to the front or did your switch just go bad?
Can you locate the wires for the front? Are the connectors the same?
My concern is this - the fuses are different, the front is a 5 amp fuse and the rear is a 10 amp fuse (I thought the front would be more, shows you what I know). I doubt that the switch would be an issue, but then again the Volvo engineers have confused me frequently in the past.
Two thoughts though:
1) Do you really want to disable the rear fog lights? You may have the worlds best "fog vision" and can see for miles with the aid of the front fog lights. And, owing to superior reflexes, can easily avoid objects in front of you, even if they are visible only at the last minute. But we have no idea about that bozo behind you!, He/she/it may have no fog lights, have their brights on, have a snoot full from the last bar they left, and poor brakes/bald tires as well. I personally believe that it is worth the few bucks to use a safety device designed by people much more expert in the field than myself. It's akin to buckling my seat belts behind me or disabling my airbags.
2) if you are just replacing a bum switch, why not find a used one? I doubt very much it would be that expensive anyway.
