Front Brake Rotors need replaced

Just had my 2000 T6 at the shop for an emissions problem. They told me I need new front brake pads and rotors. They said my rotors are warn down below specs. My 2000 only has 44,000 miles on it. Is it possible the rotors need replaced already? Thanks.

There are some alternatives to factory rotors. Brembo and Zimmerman make several replacement rotors. NAPA sell a 'regular' quality and a 'high' quality rotor. Conversely there are alternatives to factory brake pads. I know that TECH and JimKw swear by factory pads but I am partial to after market pads............the choices are yours.
