Default Fuel trim 87, 89, 91+ ?

So i am new to this car but not to cars that run on premium in general...i know the manual recommends the use of premium, but it also states that the minimum octane rating is 87. has anyone tried different kinds of fuel and seen any difference on these cars ?

From my personal experience the timing is retarded when using below spec AKI fuel, but the check engine light may not always go on, depending on the car - just looking for personal experiences on performance/noticible difference/ and MPG...

have a few threads discussing this... essentially it varies from person to person... the mileage difference isnt much, i believe maybe 1mpg less with regular in my case, but the power isnt quite there without the premium, especially in a t6 model... i just find it doesnt get up and go quite as quickly..

so, you can use any fuel you want, but the car will give max power on premium

I would never imagine putting regular in a turbo'd vehicle.

ok so its basically the same as my other premium experiences. does anyone know id the knock sensor sets off the check engine light or does it simply store the code in the ECU but does not activate the check engine light ?

i had this on my last car

, nah you wont get any engine lights etc.. the fuel management computer will just downgrade the power a bit to compensate for the lack of octane...
