Hi all
I am posting this for a mate at work he is getting on abit so he doesn't use pc's..
Ok he has a S80 2000 reg auto and the problem he has is:
The car goes thru all gears no problem but if he is in traffic each time he lets foot off brake pedal and to the gas he gets a slight jump as it moves away only.
Any ideas anyone. its like if it was a manual and you let clutch up too quick but as i say just a little jump as it moves off..

I'm not sure but honestly that sounds more like throttle issues to me than actual transmission or gear problems...

Maybe he could try cleaning the throttle module and see if that helps..

 

Check to make sure all the air induction hoses (large hoses between air filter, turbo's, air cooler and throttle body) are in good shape and properly attached. Verify there are no broken vacum hoses and none of the sensor have popped out of the air induction hose such as the two right next to the radiator fan.

Do you have any emission related lights on?

I had a similar problem once when one of the sensors blew out of the air induction hose between the air cooler and the throttle body. I am not sure if it did this because the sensor was out or the car went into limp mode.

 

A few things come to mind

Motor & transmission torque mounts
CV joints or other driveline
Torque converter thats giving up
Transmission never got the "Stop Neutral" software update

Are the RPMs pretty linear/normal when this happens?
