got off work today driving home from 9 miles made it most the way home and car started jerking and running real rough. i pulled over cuz i thought i had a flat but i hear bubbling. tires were sound poped the hod ant the engine was shaking and the car was very hot so i turned it off assuming its overheating. my temp gauge dident tell me its over heating and the check engine was blinking. what kinds of things do i need to check for now and what could be the cause of this. my coolent level is filled to what it should be i am changing the oil tomorrow morning. please help.
