Default Just purchased 2007 S80 - a few questions

Hi all,

I just purchased a 2007 Volvo s80 AWD with the active suspension. 160k miles, single owner with maintenance records. Overall I like many aspects of the car, especially the acceleration and interior. I have a couple items I want to address to dial it in.
  • My biggest issue is that the car sometimes jerks quickly to one side or other, almost like it's trying to do some kind of automatic lane assist, but I don't think that feature exists in this model. My first suspicion is some kind of electronic control because it isn't consistent and with the active suspension and things like the yaw control that would be my first guess. I imagine there could be other causes like some suspension components. I also notice it does this sometimes when I rapidly accelerate, and I've read that this could be something like torque steer (which I don't think I've experienced before because I've always owned slower SUVs), but it also does it without accelerating sometimes. Any suggestions on steps to isolate the cause?
  • It makes a metallic rattling sounds at startup which I think may be that big engine mount on top, is that a common cause of metallic rattle?
  • When I had it inspected they said the radiator hoses and transmission cooler lines need to be changed. Is this a reasonable DIY repair? What are good parts sources? I often use FCP Euro for things I can't find on Rock Auto. Also is there a good site with diagrams to locate volvo part numbers?
Thanks for any help.

Max
