My guess - and is only that - is that most people read you post, shook their heads in a mixture of disbelief and horror and left not knowing where to start.
1) An S80 is to a sports (or sporty) car as a Tennessee Walking Horse is to a Preakness contender..They are designed to be smooth, competent,, Volvo likes to use the term 'Estate Car' - what does that bring to your mind?
2) S80's (older models to be sure, but....-) have not had a great record of hi-performance engines and trannys.
3) The cars are heavy.
4) With all the electronics that Volvo has put in the, mixing and matching parts cause major headaches. Volvo was/is looking for something else than a hot rod.
5) Your car is now 12 YO - pretty much the point when thing start needing replaced, repaired, or prayed over. Driving style that put high stress on various components will shorten their lives. Appreciably.
In short, I suspect that the number of burnouts you do will be limited and drifting that beast may be more hairaising than thrilling - before it dies.
I mean I COULD be wrong, I've only owned 3 Volvos, maybe have 400k ish behind the wheels of them. But you're tryin' to turn Queen Liz into a bar room *****, I don't think it will end pretty.
But good luck.
