Default looking to buy

I do not have any experience with Volvo, but I am currently looking to buy oneand hope to get some advice. There are two S80s 2.9L that I am interested in and maybe you guys could get me a little help deciding the better buy. Both are the same price and have most of the same features, so I will only mention the ones that are different. The first car is a 1999 with 103k miles, cloth seats, and no sunroof. The second is a 2000, but with 130k miles, leather seats, and a sunroof. Leather seats and a sunroof is not necessary for me to have, I just want the better deal. There was also some interesting facts I read about the car from MSN auto. It said the 1999 got 1 mpg more than the 2000 and also has a couple more hp. Is that true? I have not actually looked at the cars in person yet, but they look as if they are in pretty good condition. Can anyone give me some pointers about the cars and maybe which they feel in the better deal, as long as they are in similar conditions. I would greatly appreciate it.

Well my friend, i'm sure we will all be glad to help you, but for starters, what prices were quoted on the two cars? To put things in context I paid $8800 on the road for my 2002 s80 with 96,000 miles so that can give you an idea..

Generally speaking, i'd recommend you stay away from any S80 before 2002... they are known to have many many transmission failures.. If it was up to me, i'd spend the extra and get an 02 or later...

they are both $6000. After sleeping on it, I believe the mileage should be the most important thing to consider, so I will probably go with the '99. However, transmission trouble on models before '02 is another story. I guess I will need to continue my search.

21703. I've been looking on AutoTrader.com. I actually just read a lot of complaints about the reliability of the early S80s, so I'm not so sure about them anymore.
