i have an 01 s80 t6, the pedal is low but all pads are new, front and rear. the rotors are good. the pedal is not all the way to the floor but its pretty low. the car stops fine but its just that the pedal is low. also the emergency brake doesn't work great. sometimes if im driving and i hit the brake pedal fast the pedal is high and hard with no brake response. what could this be? air in the line maybe? booster or pump?

 

Hello Black TT, I found your post while looking for a solution to my problem. I am experiencing the same issue, my brake pedal is low but the car stops fine .I purchased the pads thinking this could be the problem but today I found all are fine. After reading some posts around, I am leaning towards the brake booster but somehow I feel that it makes no sense.
Needless to say, I am confused.
The other possibility is the master cylinder and as I type this I am realizing it makes more sense.
Anyways, I do not want to bore you with my problem but I thought I'd post here to bump the issue up.
Maybe by now you have resolved the issue, if so, would you mind posting your results?

The new S60's V70's S80's have a low pedal when sitting still with the car running.

When driving you only use about 1/4 of the pedal travel you feel with the car just running.
You can't judge these cars sitting still.
