Default Need some knowledge with Window regulator

I removed a regulator out of a donor car at my local pull-it yard, but I had to remove the motor in order to manipulate the arms to fit out of the opening. Do I know need to put this in my car and set it back to the exact position before installing the motor or will it just relearn when I re-attach the regulator arms to the window glass? This is something I do not want to screw up. I don't want the arms bent on the donor regulator. Thanks for any help! By the way, this is for my 2002 Volvo S80.

I've never removed the motor from the arms, it comes out as one assembly per the instructions so there is never a need to do that. You may have to have the window position initialized after you're done. You can try holding the switch in the up position for about 5 seconds after the window is up but you may need VIDA

I had to remove the motor to move the arms so it could fit out of the opening in the door. There was no way this thing was coming out in the full upright position without bending the arms.

Right, because the window was up. To remove them, you lower the window about half way, disconnect the glass and pull it up, and then remove the regulator assembly. The new ones come in the correct position to fit back in. When using a junkyard part, you may not be able to power the window down to get it out, of course. So now you just have to try to put it back together.
