Just carried my car to the shop for throttle body replacement. 2001 S80 non turbo. Talked to two dealers same song and dance. Yes my throttle body is bad and should be replaced. BUT they have to run all kinds of tests they have to take amp meter readings and note when the body is breaking down fill out about 2,000 pages of material(well maybe not that many) fax to volvo and they are replacing them on a case by case basis. Should get my car back in a week they say. BOTH dealers said Volvo is making this as hard as possible in hopes the customer will say to hell with it. They dont have the parts to fix it and can only get the parts when Volvo says they will replace the unit. Boy the goverment should step in on this. I might also add the cel did not come on but the code they needed was pulled up by their reader where autozone could not find the code. They used what looked like a lap top computer and up came the code.

 

Just got a call from my dealer said Volvo approved the replacement and the parts were in to fix it. They told me they would not leave today (Friday) till it was fixed. Carried it in Wed night. Thats good service in my book

Got mine done on Tuesday , Brought the car in the morning ready at 5pm. Car runs like new ! ALL done for free !

 

they did mine last november, same day fix, in fact I waited for it lol...
