p0011 code problem - 2000 s80 2.9

Hi,

Suddenly, I realized my car has another problem.
when I was waiting for a traffic signal, the car started to intermittent shake and then check engine light turned on.
The code is P0011. (camshaft position - timing over-advanced or system performance - bank 1)

I might take my car to the dealer but I want to figure out what the problem is.
Definitely, I want to fix it by myself if I can.

(I'm not so sure, solenoid can be related to this problem?
When I got an inspection at the dealer shop, the mechanic told me solenoid need to be replaced. but I thought it means starter solenoid.)

2000 S80 non-turbo 2.9
92,700 miles
timing belt will be replaced at 105,000 miles.
spark plugs are replaced a month ago.

Thanks,

Update!

I read some articles related to this issue. the below link is one of them.
https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-s80-18/check-engine-light-codes-p0013-p1332-2000-s80-t6-28693/

I'm not sure but my problem looks like CVVT solenoid problem. (camshaft reset valve)
so, I'll try to replace it by myself.
Here are my questions.

1. Do you know the place that I can get a loan tools? (e.g. OBD II scanner)
(Autozone doesn't do that anymore)

2. According to the article that link above, OBDII has to get four operations. but Erndawg mentioned only two things. any ideas about these operations?

3. Can I only get the CVVT solenoid via Volvo dealer shop? any other auto shop doesn't have it?

Thanks a lot in advance.

1... Do you have a laptop? If so, I'd suggest you buy a generic OBD II interface. I use an elmscan (3 I think). I paid $129 for it 4 years ago, mine is serial port based. Running something like this on a computer gives you a lot more capability in terms of being able to log and monitor readings and so on. Spec of the laptop wont really matter, my laptop is a Panasonic CF-27, PI 266, 168MB RAM running Windows 98. Ie its pre '01. Heres a USB ELMScan for $60ish http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ElmSc...motiveQ5fTools

2.. Im not 100% sure on that, I'll leave it to someone else to answer.

3. Try fcpgroton.com, myvolvopartsonline.com and parts.com to start off.

Final update!

I've solved this problem with only $4 bucks.
I just figured out the problem was electrical interference of the CVVT wire.
I guess the wire was originally wrapped up with a heat shield something but mine was uncovered (only the wire). How do I know this problem? My car was fine until the engine is warm up to normal temperature and then intermittent shaking was started. so, I tried to uncover the timing belt cover which is the CVVT solenoid is located while I'm driving. And then my car runs fine. I guessed it must be a heat problem.

I bought a loom to wrap up the CVVT cable. it's only $4 bucks. after wrapping it up with the loom, my car works fine. great news. isn't it?

Originally, Volvo dealer shop asked me $300 or more to change CVVT solenoid. unbelievable.
