Dear all,

I just bought a used 2001 S80 volvo one week ago, the seller told me she lost the remote keyless. So I bought one from ebay. However, there is no instruction for programming. I did the reseach on the Internet, I tried the way they programming for other model of volvo, they does not work for 2001 S80. The way I tried is trun on and off the switch five times and leave it on, then press any key in romote, it does not work. I test the battery, it works fine.

I wonder going to the dealer is the only way to solve this problem? I heard that they will charge 70 bucks for that.

Yes Dealer only. But if the proper numbers didn't come with the used remote it will be useless.

 

Thank you for your reply, the remote seller didn't tell me the digits code for the remote. I guess I have to buy another one.

If it came in a plastic package with a barcode and some numbers than you have them. There should be I believe a 8 and 15 digit codes by the barcode.

 

There is no barcode with the remote. it only have a 7 digits number on the remote back cover. the new one cost 120 bucks, so depressed. Thank you any way!

Anyway, i was saying that the wireless remote for the s80 is $80 on www.myswedishparts.com.. i ordered from them before and am very pleased by it..http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...;subcat1=99248 is the item link...
Also, for my spare key I went on ebay looking for key blanks and I got a genuine volvo one for $3 and then paid the dealer $30 to cut it... programing the remote should also be about $30... just shop around dealers cause the price varies much more than it should
