I am trying to decide between 2006 S80 or 2007 S60, both are same in price. I am concerned about S60's and S80's transmission. From what I understand is that 2006 and older S80 uses General Motors transmission.

What about 2007 S60's transmission? I think it uses BMW transmission because it's a 2007 model year.

2006 and older S60/S80 uses General Motors transmission?
2007 and newer S60 uses BMW transmission?

The S80 comes in two variants a 5-cylinder and a 6-cylindernon-turbo or turbo. The 6(both thenon-turbo and turbo)uses a GM trans; the 5 uses a AW trans. The S60 also uses a AW trans. Its mostly thought that the GM trans is far more likly to have problems but I have no hard data on it.
No "BMW" trans.
