S80 Low Beam insultor replacement problem
I have a S80 T6 1999. The low beam was dead. When I try to replace the light bulb, I found the socket (the plastic insulator) of the bulb was partially burnt (the brown one on the left in the attached photo). I ordered a replacement from the dealer (the black one on the right). The part number is: 8678122. Is this correct? But no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to push the connector into the new insulator.
I took it back to the dealer. The guy from the parts department insisted it was the correct part. He offered to ask the mechanic to replace it for me for $40. I said OK, If you can insert the connector into the new one, I'll pay you $40. 20 minutes later he came back and said they couldn't put it in. He said Volvo must have change the design. But according to the computer, 8678122 was the correct part number. True?
I noticed the opening for the connector in the old insulator (the yellow rectangle) is noticeably larger than the one in the new part (the red rectangle). That's why the connector could not be insert into the new one.
Any suggestion?
