s80 Won't Turn Over
Not to much I can come up with at the moment. But if you have to take it in try jumping the starter and see if it starts so you can atleast drive it in.
I would really be nice if you had a good scanner that would read most of the systems of the car.

I found an independent Volvo shop in town, so I put a jumper across the starter relay to get it going and drove it in this morning. It turns out that they identified the cylinder lock as being bad, in that it wouldn't let the key turn quite far enough to fully engage the electrical contacts in the switch. I should have found this, but at least now I know what it is and they're changing out the lock assembly for me.
Now I have a few other things to figure out (replace the rear window regulator, timing belt, etc.), but there's a lot of good information in this forum that should help. As far as a scanner goes, are there one or two that you could recommend? I tried one once on a Range Rover I had, but it wouldn't recognize more than a couple basic codes so I gave up on it. I can get access to an older Snap-On scanner, but I didn't think to borrow it this time. Thanks again for your help and advice, I really do appreciate it.

The scanner needed to read all the codes are pretty expensive.
I will try to find the info someone had bought a setup for a laptop that would read almost all the codes in the car and was pretty cheap.

There was a guy that worked in my office a few years ago that had something like that. He downloaded a trial version of the software and then bought the full version and an interface cable and it was only about $100-200 and worked very well he said. Thanks for your help.
