Substitutes for Active Suspension Struts
I have a 2007 Volvo S80 with active suspension and I am in need of new struts. The OEM struts for my car run about $900 a piece. My question is can I use OEM struts from a 2007 Volov S80 without active suspension? If so what are the side effects other than not being able to use the active suspension option? If it is not possible why is this?

The OEM struts are made by Monroe, and they are now available aftermarket.
See here for fronts, note they are priced for a pair:

If you did swap for the non-4c struts you'd loose many safety benefits, as it works wth the ESP system to prevent body roll in emergency manouvers. It's a fantastic system so worth retaining.
hope this helps.
