Default Thermostat

Got a check engine light code that the thermostat isn't reaching correct temperature. I'm trying to get to the thermostat but can't get the torx bit to fit on the bolts due to the power steering pump. Is there a special tool? Does the power steering pump have to be moved first?

If it looks like this, there is not a gasket under that top cover and the unit is sold as pictured. Yea, frustrating.

Hey Daryl, I’ve had to replace my thermostat as well on my 04 S80, I found it helpful to use a flat head screwdriver to get it started and finish backing it out with my fingers. Just make sure you don’t strip it out and those bolts like to fall and get lost forever, i lost mine while removing it and wasted hours taking apart the timing and belts to find out it wasn’t there.
