Hi, Though every morning I get my volvo s80 1999 warm (143 K KM) before get on the road but recently I noticed that if car is not warm enough It gives problem while shifting gear while running. I get it checked from my mech. He says there might be a problem of solenoid which wont shift until oil gets hot and thin. Then I ask him how about changing the oil, he said if you do your transmission end up with transmission problems.

Later after doing research on the internet lot people says and Volvo also says that transmission oil is for life time.

But when I checked my transmission oil while it is cold....it has some kind of minor silt plus very smelly and thick.

any one of suggest the best solution. By the way once the oil is hot....no problem at all on the road...it is very smooth.
