It just doesnt end does it?

So I'm enjoying my lovely S80 with a nice evening cruise (this was about a month ago). Everything was great, driving like a champion. The next day I get in, start the car and "Transmission Service required" comes up. ARGH! So suddenly!

The car would drive, but with basically no first gear. My scanner showed solenoid 1 had no signal. So I drove in limp mode to my transmission shop.

Long story short, we replaced all the solenoids and the wiring going to them. He said the wiring was old and brittle. I had wondered if these cars might want a transmission cooler to extend the life. That's 12 years of extreme temperature on those wires.

For those wondering, the fluid was clean, the transmission had just be serviced 10,000 miles ago.

Cost was $150 parts, $200 labor. (03 S80 2.9 NA)
