almost embarrassed. These transmissions are crappy anyways, aren't they? I don't really think it's a transmission problem though, even when it's on in park the engine can't keep idle and it vibrates badly. I don't really know what could be wrong. Recently had a new timing belt/tensioner/pulley, serpentine belt, radiator, water pump, etc. put in and the whole system was flushed pretty much. help.

 

ETM needs to be replaced most likely, a resistor inside the etm is bad and gives out the wrong reading thus the idle cannot compensate, this in turn somehow magically screws up the transmission control

or at least someone on this site said something like that at one point !

didnt you just buy the car ?

oh and the tranny is not "bad" on these cars, look at the 2000 impalas, they were the cop car of choice, fleet vehicle of choice for many companies, its the miss matched Engine and too much power, i know you have the 2.9 but your car may have been abused and had been neglected of its service.... sorry to hear your troubles...

 

oh man, something came loose, but i won't know what it is until i pick it up in a little. Not a tranny problem though!
