Default Volvo Lifetime warranty and Series 1 brakes

Two seperate but related topics.
Recently was blessed with the mellifluous sound of rivets on rotor. ( '05, 70k) Naturally this occurred while the wife is fresh out of surgery and car #3 is down with a misfire code. So I take it to the dealer. He say the fronts are shot, backs look like hell too. 1200 bucks (pads and rotors, front and rear). Figure he's lying about the back brakes but approve it anyway. Pick the car up and find out that since last year Volvo now has Lifetime Warranty on Parts AND Labor. I thought about it, Hell, I will probably have 2 or 3 more brake jobs in that car before I retire her - well worth it I think as that is coming close to Gennie parts costs alone and who really LIKES to do brakes and trash a Saturday?

Part 2; So I was talking to my neighbor who has an 04 S80 about it, still suspicious about those rears. He did his fronts 18 months ago and shortly thereafter his rear brakes needed redone also. So I'm wondering, is this common with all early S80's? My S70 rear brakes lasted until the 3rd set of fronts was being done and they looked like they could use it too. I'm not complaining, just curious.

Lifetime warranty doesn't apply to wear items.

The fronts do more of the braking. I find quite a few where the rear pads actually start getting stuck in the bracket. Overall life really depends on driving habits though.
