Default What is it?

Had my car in for svc today. 2001 S80 2.9 17" wheel package. While up on the rack there is roller looking device I think held on by a bolt at the top and bottom. Seems to be approx 3 inches long. I think the roller is covered in a hard rubber and the rubber or what ever is eat up Very little left of it Anyone know what it is and what it is for. It is located on the inside of the front hubs? Is it dangerous to operate the car like this ? thx

Nope This part fastens to the back of the wheel or brake shield. It is some type of a roller

It sounds like the steering stop limiter, the one on my drivers side looks just as you described. Funny it was the othere one that I had to replace.
