Will the 3/8" magnefine inline filter fit 1999 S80 Trans line?
I just got the 3/8" magnafine filter for the top of radiator return line. As I look at the paper work info about how to put it on the Power Steering system or transmission line. I am wondering if the 3/8" is correct for the S80 line size?
I thought I would ask before cutting the upper line. And my wife thought she is the smart one.

Probably not 3/8". Disconnect the line at one end to check the ID before cutting it.
When you figure out the size, please post. I have the same need for my V40. I know the line is larger than 3/8" but have not measured the ID yet.

I wish I could measure ID of a hose well enough to know if it is 5/8' 0r 1/2 " but that is over my pay grade. However, maybe someone on the forum has done this installation and knows what size(s) work.
Maybe. Then again, maybe not. On my V40 the ID of the transmission cooler hose was larger than 3/8" so I postponed installing a Magnefine filter. It's my impression that the hose is less than 1/2" ID. Probably 11mm or some inconvenient size like that.
It may work with 3/8". I found this link,

If it is too tight a fit I just make it fit like the example said. Since no one on the forum has done this lately it is worth a shot.

I'll get back to it one of these days. The reason I didn't install the Magnefine filter before is that I have a personal rule when working on my cars that if I don't have exactly the correct part or tool, I don't proceed. A half-assed job with improvised parts or tools always takes longer and usually has to be redone later anyway.
