alright so the volvo has been making this annoying squeaking noise when its running. so tonight, (saturday = car night) i popped the hood and decided to investigate whats causing the problem.


it turns out it has something to do with the ac compressor. the noise stops when the compressor is on and running. when the clutch engages (comp. off) it starts making the noise.



anyone know what that is? is it bad bearings?

 

I would say the bearing in the pulley is bad.

do you know how to fix that?

do i just need to pop new bearings in it or does it just need a whole new pulley assembly?

 

You will have to replace the pulley. If you do it right with the right tools you will not need to remove the compressor. Nor will you have to drain the freon.
