speedometer display question

Hi There,
The attached picture shows a small square icon (or is it two overlapping squares). This can be found in the top center of the display between the thermometer and the clock. I've indicated the location of the icon with a light blue arrow. Does anyone know what this square indicates? Thank you! p.s. it's actually the instrument panel |
I am unsure, however, that icon morphs into other icons when there are notifications.

@ee325rkh - this is interesting, do you have any examples of this?

Mystery solved. This icon is for cars with HUD (heads up display) and is used for changing the placements of the HUD.

It does expand when the HUD adjustments are made- like it grows into the HUD placement instructions. But it also shifts into the Low Gas warnings as well as other things- like air suspension shifts in height when changing drive modes (vehicle going up, going down icons) and other things. It sits as a morphing square when nothing is happening. |
Agreed, I thought it was a "notification icon", like "hey, you have a message about your car" type thing.
Let me check with the Spanish guy, (Manual) It is the "Dynamic symbol" on page 81 of my manual. Dynamic symbol in basic mode. In the center of the instrument panel is a dynamic symbol that changes appearance according to the type of message displayed. The severity of the control or warning symbol is indicated by an amber or red marking around the symbol. An animation may be used to change the symbol into a larger image in order to graphically depict the location of a problem or to clarify information. |
