Adding an MP3/aux jack
Hi, I have a 2004 Volvo V40 and I noticed that the h/u (an HU-555) has like an 6 and 8 pin DIN (or XLR) female plugs, and I've been wanting to install an aux jack for a while.
Considering that it doesn't have a tape player, I couldn't use those tape/3.5mm adapter things, and also I couldn't just open up the radio and solder on to the leads.
I noticed that on ebay, they sell these cheaply-made, unbranded iPod adapters/mp3 adapters that plug in to the 8 pin DIN/CD changer plug. They run for anywhere from $80 to $100ish.
Anyway, I'm wondering if these actually work, especially since the adapter needs to "communicate" with the h/u or something, and also, I don't want to spend almost $80 just to have something that doesn't work.
Thanks!
Edit: I'm considering getting either one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/iPod-iPhone-...-/280849228054 or http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-mp3-play...19bb28&vxp=mtr
Edit: I bought one with a USB/SD/aux and it seems to be working fine.
I had to connect the yellow wire (labeled +12V) into the red wire going into the radio and everything seems to be working fine. I primarily just use the aux jack. I had to press the CD button twice to get to the CD changer.
I used an extra cable to extend the cable, and I was able to put the interface box into the arm rest by running the wire under the center console all the way up to behind the HU.

Thanks, haven't seen em. I'll check em out now!
Has it been solved if a din-to-aux cable will work to play music? I'm assuming the only problem may be the radio trying to interpret the aux cable as a CD player, but I hope it just works? I am finding these cables for like $20.
