Hello,

My name is Rene and im from holland, so excuse my spelling and grammar mistakes. Ive got an 2000 v40 with airco without climate controll

the weird thing is when i put my fan speed at 3 the blower starts blowing at the power of three but sometimes it will just go to maximum and then just stops. Slapping the console does nothing, slapping the fan at the passenger side does nothing. Removing the key and starting the engine again sometimes helps. And sometimes it will be working as it should for a week and then just start pissing me off again.

Ive removed the controll unit completely and solderd the 5k dials again, ivre read somewere that, that could help sometimes. But is doesnt....

Does anyone have an idea?

My 2002 S40 did similar. The problem was the fan speed power transistor. Here are some links.

If it is not the transistor (or resistor depending on what you have) then it is likely the controller.

it wasnt the controller, ive soldered the controller and its just doing the same. ive ordered a new transistor but its not here yet so ill let you know
