headliner removal help
I have read through many tutorials on the headliner for various other models of the Vovlo but not the V40 station wagon 1999, petrol. It all looks straight forward to remove except for two items and I would greatly appreicate your help with this:
1. The two horizontal bars on either side of the windscreen (they are also covered in fabric unlike more recent models made of plastic): how do I pull them out. I have managed to open them from the top but do I just leave in tilt?
2. Aside from all the items to unscrew etc, what should I look out for in getting this out? Do I need to undo the side panel between front and rear side doors? Or can I get it out by pushing up there?
Also, I see people advocating for a 1/8th measurement--is this in metric or imperial? And is there a recommended type of backing that might be a better quality foam to what has corroded currently?
Thanks for any and all help.
