Default Headliner Removal (partial)

I need to peel back the rear corner of the headliner in my 1983 240 Wagon, so I can work on wiring that passes thru the hinge.

I made one attempt to peek behind the headliner using a screwdriver to pry it back, but the liner seemed to be glued into place!

So, should I be able toremove the headlinerwithoutwrecking it?

The way I did it was to grab the headliner at the rear corner and pull toward the rear. The headliner has a rigid plastic edge or rim sewn into it and it fits into a metal lip that is part of the roof. The trick is to get the plastic edge away from the lip then pull down. Do it carefully a little at a time.
Installation is the reverse of removal. ;-)

Mine is some sort of plasticized/rubberized material that looks quite fragile.

I just went out to the garage, yanked on the rear of the headliner, and pulled it down a couple inches. Then I replaced it. The plasticized material stretches, on mine. The key is the rib on the edge of the headliner fits into the lip on the roof.
Let's see if the pic uploads.
