Got a 2001 Volvo V40. A/C doesn't blow cold, so went back to the dealer (bought it Saturday) and he put in 2 cans of freon... this morning. It was cold for the 10 min drive home. Then tonight, when we went out to dinner... NOT COLD anymore... can it leak THAT fast? Or it is something else?!?

 

Depends on how bad of a leak it is. Did they install dye? If so look for Green under the hood.

 

it happened this morning.. and it's a small dealer, don't know if he would have the mechanics/expertise on site to do this kind of diag. I might have to eat it. The car is in superb shape, and low price under $6K. He got it from the auction a week ago, and the carfax shown one-owner, been dealer maintained at a local Volvo dealer. That's why I bought it, figure if I had to put some money into it, still a very good catch. Just didn't expect to put $$ in within 24 hours!

How much does it cost to fix a leak, at a local Volvo shop (non-dealer?)

 

It depends on what it srong with it. Might be a cheap fix like an o-ring but could also be a big part.
