As of about a week ago my Check Engine Light started coming on at start-up. After a few minutes or 3 blocks down the road it goes out.

I haven't noticed any difference in how it runs or poor performance but obviously I am curious why it is coming on. I took it to Advance Auto Parts today and plugged in the OBD computer and it said No Codes, All clear even while the Service Light was on.

Here is what I know so far:

1) The light comes on EVERYTIME I start the car. Even when I get home from work and shut off the car. If I restart right away it still comes on.

2) The light goes off maybe 2 minutes after running. Even when the engine is cold or warm.

3) I have not noticed any differences in engine performance, fuel mileage, or sounds.

Can anyone lead me in any sort of direction?

 

It tells you to change oil. Not sure if you have to go to dilership to reset light. Here is pic from 850 ovners manual

 

I'm thinking you mean the "service" light, and not the "check engine"? The service light is supposed to go off after 2 minutes. To Reset: Hold down the trip odometer button, insert the ignition key & turn to the first position, continue holding button down, after maybe 15 seconds or so the "service" light will start to flash, release the button, turn off the key, now when you restart, it should be off

 

Oh. Perhaps I should learn how to read that owners manual. I usually use it as a glove box paper weight. Thanks! Worked like a charm!
