Default V40 2.0T vs T4

Hi...

What exactly are the differances between the 2.0T and the T4?
I know they run on different chassis... any other?

Why not do a little research and see for yourself.

Google each one and see what the SPECS are.

Thanx for nothing then....

http://www.um.co.za/specifications/v...0t_(2003).aspx for the 2.0T
http://www.um.co.za/specifications/v...t4_(2003).aspx for the T4

I still canot believe the only differance is the Compression ratio....

No don't say thanks for nothing. I got you to search. Which is a key factor in forum life. Search before you ask a question. Then if you still have questions ask questions that are more pointed.

Depending on which "fas" you're thinking about.

98-00 Fas1

2.0t - T4
2.0 litre engine - 1.9 litre
Higher chassi - Sport chassi
Weeker clutch - "same" clutch as in V70 T5 / S60 T5
TD04 12T- TD04 14T turbo

01-03 Fas2
Same enginge size (2.0 litre)
The pistons in the 2.0t is weeker
12T - 14T (same as fas1) but now with twin scroll (faster spolup)
I think the T4 still have a better clutch than 2.0t.

I know it's an old post but I've been trying to do some research I've got a T4 fas2 and it's blown up. I have a fas2 2.0T engine with 98K on it and was wondering if they would swap? Both 1.948cc. You said the 2.0L has weaker pistons, do you think the swap would work> Like are the longblocks the same? The 2.0T has 98,000km on it and is $200 and my T4 V40 has 220,000km.

Cheers!

dunno if its fair to say the 2.0T has "weaker" pistons vs the T4 - they share the same bore/stroke and are the same engine family but the T4 has a slightly lower compression 8.5 vs 9.0 for the low pressure turbo design. I'd venture that the blocks should be interchangeable. Are the pistons/rods damaged in the T4 block as well? Do a search for B4204T5 engines and you should find some posts and info. What I saw suggested its common to use the 1.9T long block with the VVT head so it may come down to which pistons you'd use. I don't think using the 9.0s will have a problem unless you are adding boost through a tuned ECU.
