V40 Diesel Service Manual
Is there such a thing ?
I have checked the whole Haynes Catalogue and there is nothing for the diesel version, i have a 2001 1.9 diesel and cant find anywhere that sells a manual for it, plenty for the petrol version or the diesel V50, but so far nothing for the V40 D.
Apolgies if there is an old thread covering this, i did look but couldn't find one

i also have got a 1999 1.9 turbo D model since june 2009 and i am also trying to find a manual for this particular engine. I have recently serviced the car, no problems servicing as i am mechanically mined - well kind of!
i did a mini service, just oil, oil filter, air filter, new brake pads all round - i have not got around doing the diesel fuel filter and pollen filter yet, but i have been warned that the fuel filter is tricky due to bleeding, but i will get that done at my local garage. Oh yeah, i purchased some lucas brand glow plugs, but the ones in the car are not struggling yet!
I am trying to find where the pollen filler goes, but i cannot find it in the haynes manual. I used to petrol cars, so this is my first diesel car. i have another car which is a petrol - daihatsu charade GTti 12valve 3 cylinder twin cam turbo @ 137.4 bhp (and thats from a 1 litre engine) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
I have reserached before about this engine, some say it is a renualt engine but im not sure. Go to GFS (german, french and swedish) parts store, and give your reg and model number and they should tell you what parts you need for pulleys and cambelt, and ask them if they are compatible with with cars!
i will find out too, my mates a parts manager there, and i have access to trade too!

Hi
The 440/460 1.9 D19 and the S40/V40 D19 up to model year 2001 are the same engine (different fuel pumps though) and are based on (and suitably upgraded by Volvo) versions of the Renault 1.9. Many parts are interchangeable ie the bits Volvo didn’t change. The JC5 (and all the gearboxes in the 400 series range – also used in early S40s and V40s) were comprehensively redesigned by Volvo. Hence, you need Volvo specific gearbox oil which the Renault models don’t need.
Past model year 2001, the S40 and V40 got a 1.9 common rail engine from Renault. As far as I’m aware, it’s a completely new and different unit. Not evolved from the earlier D19. I’ve been looking to confirm that for sure though.
In terms of service manual, the Renault 19 Diesel by Haynes generally covers the Volvo D19 but isn’t 100% correct due to the changes Volvo made etc.
Really, the best bet is to get the Volvo Cars workshop manual via a dealer. Volvo used to supply printed versions via the parts dept. Recently however they have been selling DVDs of the manuals. The Volvo manual is really good, detailed and clear
Good luck
