All other things being equal, I'd say it's a flip of a coin. One year or a few less miles... both look like nice cars. I'd say just check them both out and whichever you like more aesthetically is the right one.
Oh, and here in the US, we're jealous that you get to choose a diesel! ;-)
Here in Arizona, you generally choose the lighter colored option (the difference between the black Acura and the white V50 I had was amazing - the Volvo's interior would be 30°+ cooler in the sun).
I'm a "wagon fan" and would love to find a manual transmission, diesel wagon for my road trip car. But nice euro-wagons are like unicorns here. I went from my V50 to an Audi A3 wagon (I did like the DSG transmission though), which got totaled by a dog (that lived, no less) and then to a 5-series BMW wagon (automatic). I may have to break down and get a VW wagon eventually... sigh.
That is a great point! I didn't even think of that. It gets so hot here - i'm at the bottom of the heel, and I think the sun would hit it less hard. I'm now really leaning toward the silver . Also it had one owner, and the black had two owners. BUT, I need a get a dog . They'd be allowed to mess it up a little.
This is an automatic diesel wagon. My first car in a many, many years.
