High Mileage on used V50?
I'm new here, never owned a Volvo before. Looking at purchasing a used V50.
Here's the catch, its an 2007 with 100,000 miles. So I'm asking Volvo owners, should I be scared of this car? They claim the miles are highway miles, which they have to be for someone to put over 50k/year. I'm guessing they ate 3 square meals in that car.
I also test drove an 06 and an 05 model both w/ ~45k miles, which I noticed both had slight, very slight engine knock sound, almost diesel like. Some people told me this was normal for the 5 cylinder engine and their V70 and S60 do it. But the 07 V50 (100kmiles) didn't have that distinct idle sound.
Both of these cars are pretty much the same, FWD non-turbo. The 07 is $4000 cheaper, but the 06 still has some warranty left.
Tell me what I should know about these cars. I absolutely loved driving these...granted I'm driving a Ford F150 now, so anything is gonna seem like dream ride compared to it.
I typically hang onto cars until they are run into the ground, so I'm hoping my next car will last a long time.

Just my two cents worth but I would go with the lower miles and a bit of warranty left. I've got an 07 that I bought used and so far no problems at all but I'm only at the 46,000 kms mark. Warranty on any European make is always a good thing.
