Default Intermittent SRS Light and Failure

I have a 2005 V50 T5 AWD. Last year, the sunroof drain on the passenger side pulled out of the firewall, and doused that controller under the glove box. At that point, my SRS light came on and my control over the other windows or locking mechanism for the doors from the drivers door controllers went away, as did the ability to remotely lock/unlock the car. I fixed the drain issue, and removed and cleaned the control module under the glove box with contact cleaner, reassembled the whole schmear and lo and behold, everything worked normally!

Fast forward to this past fall, and the SRS light returned. I right away pulled that module and cleaned it, reassembled and the SRS light went out. But it then came back on within a few days. Now, if i do the reclean of the module, the light will go out for a few minutes of driving, then return. But here's the weird part - it sometimes (like right now) goes off on its own, and will stay off for weeks, returning full functionality to the window and door controls.

And sometimes, it's accompanied by the "passenger seat belt not connected" sign and the annoying dinging. And sometimes the SRS light goes OUT when i have a passenger sitting next to me.

I'm thinking it's related to either the passenger sensor in the passenger seat OR the seat belt closed sensor in the buckle. Anybody have any thoughts or recommendations on what my next step should be?

Thanks
Rick

I'd suspect that module that got dowsed, if it was producing the same symptoms before (more or less). Water damage on that kind of circuit board can cause all kinds of havoc years after the event, as conductive "junk" can grow in between the itty bitty little circuit board connections. The fact that the conditions change when you remove and clean it (with decreasing longevity) sure sounds like the module is likely the cause of the problem.

Thanks Habbyguy, I'll look at replacing that. Your logic sounds right!
