Default V50 2010 1.6D, 212 000km

Hi everyone.

This is my first post here. I have an issue with my V50 that I was hoping you could help me solve.

The symptoms are as follows:
1. The warning light is on constantly, and an alarm message is saying that motor power is limited. Motor power is not noticeably limited.
2. The traction control (DSTC) light is on intermittently. Sometimes it comes on straight after I start the car and remains on until I start the car again, or for a couple of days. Sometimes it comes on after a few minutes. When this light is on the motor power is limited.

I took the car to a Volvo workshop and they say the DPF needs to be changed. The increased resistance through the filter is apparantly what causes this. Why would the DSTC warning come on if this is the case?
What would be your opinion?

Change the filter and see, it all runs with the CPU , the filter is cheap and needs to be changed on the diesel quite regularly and can course all sort of problems
200k is a lot so its probably blocked if it has not been changed

The filter is approximately 5000NOK (435GBP) if I do the work myself. I got an offer from the workshop which included topping up the ad-blue for three times that amount. Just want to be sure before I buy parts or take the workshops offer

How complicated is it to change this compared to an oil change?
