Default V50 front Cup Holders

Hi again,

Does anyone know if the front cup holders (between the front seats) can be removed. They seem to have a clip mechanism in the middle of each long side, but no amount of levering and prising seems to loosen it. Anyone know?

hiPhilharmonic
the front cup holders can be removed, there are 6 clips, 2 in middle and 2 at each end. You will need 4 small screwdrivers 2 for sides and 2 for the front, then pull the front of the cup holder up.

gararrd,

many thanks for the info - I'll give it another try. Sounds as if I may need another pair of hands to handle that many screwdrivers.I'll let you know how I get on. BTW - if you don't mind me asking; how did you know?

OK -cup holder unit HAS BEEN removed. Didn't fancy using screwdrivers for levering plastic so I fashioned four flat levers out of an old plastic ice scraper I was not using.I pushedone each down the long sides which bent the sides of the unit inwards thus disengaging the clips on each side. Leaving these in place I used two other levers to leverbackwards and upwards the front end of the unit thus releasing the two front clips. Then with some judicous twisting and lifting the unit popped out. Unfortunately, I had hoped to get acces to inside the centre consoleto route a cable but the cup holder sits in a receptacle which when it doesn't have the cup holder in, is much more useful as a storage compartment. Though it doesn't look very good. Never mind I'll have to think of something else on the cable routing front.

HI Philharmonic
The reason I knew how to remove it was because my V50 did not have an ashtray, I had to remove the box so I could put a cup holder unit in which holds the ashtray.

Hi gararrd - are you saying you had a "box" installed before you replaced it with a cup unit and ashtray? If so - what sort of box was it. For storage? If it was, I'd love to have one myself.
