I think the waterfall dashes should be the same between the similar models and vintage C30, S40 and V50 (with the V50 being the coolest, of course). ;-) What part of the console are you looking for? If it's the plastic, it's probably pretty simple. If its' the electronics, I'd suggest making doubly certain that the part number of the module you're putting in is exactly the same as the one that you're taking out.

I thought the trip odometer was standard, though to get the MPG and other data (what I suspect you're looking for) is a bit more complicated. My understanding of the process for adding this to a car built without it is that you have to change the turn signal stalk to get the controls, and THEN take the car in to the local Volvo dealer and hand them your checkbook so they will do the Volvo-only programming necessary to enable the extra functionality. In other words, I decided against doing this...

FWIW, I use the Torque Pro app on my 'droid phone, and monitor about 10x more than the Volvo (tiny little) display can give you anyway. I can keep an eye on things like vacuum, timing advance, throttle position, temperatures, altitude (yep), MPG (long-term and short-term). Really the only thing that's not easy is the miles to empty, which apparently requires a reset every fill-up (I just don't bother). About $20 for the app AND the Bluetooth OBD dongle to make it work.
