Default 01 V70 fuel pump or temp sensor? or both?

Hi, I have a 2001 V70 2.4T wagon which is having a hard time starting. I was thinking it was the fuel pump until the last time I drove it the temp guage did not work for 30+ miles, then worked the minute I drove in the garage. I shut the car off and it immediately started again. Could the temp sensor be malfunctioning and telling the engine not to start? I also read someone else's post about the fuel pump relay. Anybody know if all 3 of these are connected or do I maybe only have 1 problem.

Any comments are helpful, thanks.
