1998 v70 stalling issue- bad MAF unit?
my '98 v70 ( just turned 200k mi.)was running fine until two days ago, when it began starting hard, stalling after idling for a short time, and also stalling as I depressed the gas pedal.
After checking the forums here, I replaced the fuel filter ( a certain sense of accomplishment there, as I'm not much of a mechanic, but saving big on labor costs will make you try that sort of thing...). The car will start ok now, but when I start driving the car will stall intermittently.
One thread suggested disconnecting the MAF. My car will run ok with the MAF disconnected, does this indicate it is a failure of that unit? I am able to replace it myself, and am hopeful that will address the issue...any info will be greatly appreciated.
Additionally, am I causing any potential damage operating the vehicle with the MAF disconnected for a few days? I rely on the car to commute to work, about a 15 mile round trip every day.
